Holland vs Spain (I expected Spain to get it but in truth I wanted Holland to win but it was 0-1 to Spain)

Spain have at times played well in this tournament and we all know they can as they have some quality players on the ball.  They have had their luck in the games which is needed to win a tournament, an off side goal springs to mind against Paraguay and Germany not getting the penalty they should have.

This said credit to the new champions for the win, Holland for me still got the goal of the tournament but not in this game.  The Dutch set out trying to tie up the Spanish players to avoid giving them time and space with the ball.  Holland got it slightly wrong and were over aggressive on a number of occasions.

Uruguay vs Germany (Expected a close one with Germany getting it, they did 2-3)

Germany finished the tournament in 3rd place and perhaps they deserved more given the way they beat Argentina and England.  This is a young team that will only go onto better things I expect.

Germany vs Spain (I expected Germany to win but Spain got away with it again 0-1)

Spain as I have said before are getting away with it so much that you could almost say there name is on the cup.  Not that I have anything against the Spanish team but there ability to ENSURE they get a free kick is exceptional as the slightest bit of contact and they go down and "win" the free kick.

Footballing great Carles Puyol got the winner for the Spainish and he is one hell of a player even now.  On the 73rd minute he booked Spain's place in the final and proved the octopus was right (well its delayed becoming calamary for another few days).

Uruguay vs Holland (Holland should have won bit it was closer than I thought 2-3)

Holland are in the final we know this now and there playing well indeed.  They had a bit of a scare against plucky Uruguay who despite being missing Suarez (one of their best 2 players) they put 2 goals past the Dutch!

Paraguay vs Spain (I expected Spain to get through this with ease but it was luck that saved them! 0-1)

Spain are getting in this tournament the same luck as Barcelona get in the champions league, some of it just good old fashioned luck and some of it earnt though going down softly, not getting booked when they should and clearly blind offcials.

It was a turgid game in all honesty with Spain unable to pass a ball and Paraguay keeping them at bay.  The game carried on like this for most of it with the odd moment of interest coming.

Argentina vs Germany (I expected Germany to win for some reason 0-2 but they won 0-4!)

Don'y cry for me Argentina would be an understatement as they were whooped by the Germans.  A real power house display put the best attack in the tournament to the sword.

Holland vs Brazil (What a result this was Holland, yes Holland KO Brazil!!!!! 2-1)

Holland are much like England and Spain (prior to there recent Euro win) they have flattered to deceive.  This could be the time or the Orange men to shine though.

This Brazil team for me though is like no other I have seen, it seems and acts more like a premier league side.  Lucio and co have been imperial in their control at the back after the first game they struck a good flow with one another.

Uruguay vs Ghana (Uruguay won 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw after extra time)

Most people I knew were backing Ghana in this based (fairly) on Gyan who has been a stand out star in this tournament.  I do feel sorry for him though as when it really counted he faltered as he had the chance to put them in the next round at in the last seconds and he failed.

Spain vs Portugal (I expected a draw and this to go to penalties, I was wrong as Spain scored a dubious goal late to win 1-0)

It was a fairly close affair tonight with Portugal looking good in the opening 20 minute exchange but unable to get a break through.  Spain got a foothold in the game but it was still tight with little room for anyone to show off.

Spain I did think at times played the ref a little too much, Torres who looks poor at the moment kept going down whenever he felt the touch of another player.  Granted both teams wanted to win but still fair play must be expected.

Holland vs Slovakia (Holland I expected to win and they did 2-1)

Arjen Robben has finally gotten on the score sheet and shown again what Chelsea and Real Madrid are missing.  Robben scored and also helped dictate play for Holland as he showed pace and trickery that would cause any defence problems on the 18 minute mark.

Holland are now on an unbeated run in 23 games and the tricky dutchman almost scored again in the same manner.
